Oak Hills Country Club

"How to have a great time at your wedding"....be completely laid back, relax and let loose. Michelle and Quinn were quintessentially the perfect bride and groom. The top priority of their wedding day.....their guest. Of course it helps when the venue takes care off all the details. Michelle and Quinn were married on the grounds of the Oak Hills Country Club. It was the perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony and a comfortable indoor reception!

How To Stay on Time on your Wedding Day

One of the most asked question I come across is "what time should I be ready for photos?"

The best way to calculate this is to develop a timeline using the Backwards rule. Start with the Ceremony time and subtract 20 minutes or so, right off the top. No one should be doing formal photographs while guest are arriving. Use this time for your self to gather your thoughts and prepare for the Ceremony. From the that time, subtract the time it takes for the formal family shots or the candid getting ready shots. Subtract additional time for traveling from home or makeup and hair and don't forget to set time aside to eat a little something. Ultimately you will arrive at the time you need to "start getting ready".
Email me with the subject "Timeline" for additional information on our Timeline Worksheet.

Glencora and her Kilts at Club Giraud

Congratulations to Glencora and Jason who were married this spring. Jason and his groomsmen look so distinguished with their morning coats but you would have to say that Glencora's brothers stole the show! Abound with kilts, Club Giraud was more remminissant of the Scotish Highlands than it's French infulence.

Beware of the Big Bouquet

The selection of exotic blooms, foliage and textured greenery in today's bouquets make for stunning style. However in the past two months I have encountered a few clients straining to hold their bouquet in a comfortable position (especially after an hour or so). There might be a trade off when it comes to floral design and comfort. Ask your florist about the best way to hold your bouquet for optimum comfort over a long period of time.

The End (and Beginning) of an Era

Winfield and I would like to personally congratulate Tom Honigblum on his marriage to Alane. We have known Tom for more than 20 years and although those years have not been continuous it never felt like we had been away for very long when our paths crossed again. We are honored to have had the opportunity to photograph their wedding. For those of you in San Antonio that are looking for great music and a place to eat, stop by his place, Sam's Burger Joint (off of Broadway) and tell him the Little's sent you!

Tip: Slideshow Settings

Rehearsal Dinners are always great fun. It is a time when family and close friends exchange stories and photos of the bride and groom and inevitably a slide show of their favorite photos growing up. Set to music it can melt your heart......until the screen saver option pops up on the screen because someone forgot to set the laptop sleep option to "never". Nothing ruins a moment like this.

RD Tip: Don't forget to change the laptop's screen settings.

Make a Statement

Who says you can't do life (or larger than life) size print at the reception. This print of Diana set the tone for the reception. It was fun, energetic, and over the top.

What a great idea!

Tired of the (outside of) McNay?

We recently received a letter from the McNay announcing beginning March 1st, 2009 they will be accepting limited opportunities for professional photographers to take formal photographs in the most beautiful and prestigious locations INSIDE the museum. This includes use of the main lobby, Grand Staircase and the Courtyard. Lobby restrooms will be available for clients and to change clothes.

Advanced reservations are required and a fee of $100 is applicable for one hour.

This is a welcome change to all the hussel and bussel outside.

Merry Christmas

We recently photographed an event for GlaxoSmithKline which host a cocktail reception for volunteers who work with patients who are battling breast cancer. The more important aspect is all the volunteers are survivors of breast cancer themselves. Throughout the event we overheard their stories and you realize even the largest of your problems are quite small in comparison.

This is our third year photographing this event and what we have noticed is everyone is truly happy to be there. There are many smiles and embraces to friends and and strangers alike. Everyone is looking forward to another great year.

Winfield and I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas (and a Happy Hanukkah).

Wedding Spa?

If there was such a thing as a Wedding Spa Nolte Farms would be number ONE on the list. I can't say enough about the owners and staff at Nolte Farms. Their entire staff is dedicated to making sure that everyone in the Wedding party....and their guests are happy, have a cool beverage in hand and are as comfortable as possible. In addition, the staff is not just a few attendants, but many attendants. Always friendly always helpful.

Sarah and Joshua were married at Nolte Farms recently. Congratulations on your marriage and selecting such a beautiful setting.

We Love San Antonio Weddings and Belly Dancers

San Antonio is by far the best city for weddings. Where else can you find such diversified cultures all under one roof (and all so friendly). Sarah, who's father's lineage is Egyptian gave the guest a wonderful surprise with a show stopping belly dance performance. This was a treat for everyone, and especially for those who had traveled from far away. The night was great fun and I'm certain that enrollment in belly dance has doubled since then.

River Rock Event Center

If you are contemplating a Hill Country Wedding Venue, you may want to look into the River Rock Event Center. Plan for 150 guests. Any more than this would be a tight fit. It's a little difficult to get to but once your there it surroundings are very quaint. The price....I'm not sure of but it looks like a good value for the dollar.
